Ingredients:
- 1 C butter
- 1 C brown sugar
- a large bag of mini marshmallows (or 6 Cups)
- lots of popcorn
- a bowl of cold water
Directions:
Pop the popcorn and take out extra kernels and any burnt pieces. I use a cooling rack over the pot of popcorn and shake it upside down.
Using a medium or large saucepan melt the butter, brown sugar, and marshmallows. Stir this a lot and be careful to not burn it! Pour this hot gooey stuff onto the popcorn and stir it up.
Use the bowl of cold water to keep hands from burning. Dip hands in the water and then grab a pile of the sticky popcorn. Make these piles snowball sized or smaller balls and let cool before putting in a container for storing.
Comments:
This came from Ina Hadam from Idaho. I almost married her son, Jerry, who taught me to snowboard and do my battle roll in a kayak. Makes enough for a big crowd depending on much is eaten in the process of making. The recipe is easy enough to break in half or quarter size too. I’ve also doubled it for a few large classrooms worth of kids. I’ve also added orange food coloring to the melted goo and then added green icing to make them look like pumpkins.
Truly a mess worth making and enjoying. And not to worry because the stuff washes out of clothes without any extra care. Ask me how many kids have “helped” me make these!
