L’Shana Tova!
Huge props to Grandma Liz for baking and mailing her round Challah along with apples, brand new honey, and the best ever Holiday Card with the family photo. Our annual coordinating/matching T-Shirt shot is a highlight of the year no doubt. The MT Jaffes haven’t been traditional other than making sure we take time to have a special family dinner and talk about whatever Jewish Holiday it might be.
We eat some of the obvious things and we talk about the specific holiday and as always, we do a round of gratitude for our aspects of our current lives.
For Rosh Hashana we would always put on kippahs, pull out the shofars, and practice our heartfelt prayers with candles, and “L-Chaim!” We think those shofars sound a lot like the elk calls used in the upcoming hunting season.
Our traditional food for Rosh Hashanah food? Baked chicken, acorn squash, some kind of green like a salad or brussels sprout. We’ve made charoset too.
