- 1 32oz pkg Frozen tater tots/hash brown potatoes, thawed.
- 3/4 C cup melted butter (divided 1/2 cup and 1/4 cup)
- 1/2 C chopped onions
- 1 – 10 3/4 oz can of cream of chicken or cream of mushroom soup undiluted
- 1 – 8oz carton of sour cream
- 12 oz shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 C corn flakes

Grease a large casserole dish and spread out the potatoes in it. Combine ingredients except for the cereal and only the first 1/2 C butter. Stir well and pour/spoon over the potatoes. Crush cereal, add remaining butter to this and sprinkle over the top. Bake.
Comments:
From Grandma Marge Grafton who got it from Ruth Tackels. As a soccer coach, I had the pleasure of meeting Joy Simpson who gave me a recipe much like this. She had it memorized and said I probably would too, based off how often the kids will ask for it. I’ve never made it with the cereal crushed on top. I usually sprinkle some extra cheese on top. There’s never a bite left at potlucks even when doubled and it freezes well. Not a good recipe for people counting calories.
