Green Pepper Steak

Ingredients:

  • Beef sirloin tip steak (about 3 lbs.)
  • 1 C red wine
  • 1/3 C vegetable oil
  • 1 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 2/3 C chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic chopped
  • 1 can (10.5 oz.) condensed beef broth
  • 2 medium green peppers, cut in strips
  • 1 lb. fresh mushrooms
  • 1/4 C cornstarch
  • 1/4 C water
  • 1 Tbls. soy sauce
  • 2 C cherry tomatoes halved

Goat Cheese, Artichoke, and Ham Strata

Ingredients:

  • 2 C whole milk
  • 1/4 C olive oil
  • 8 C 1-inch cubes sourdough bread, crusts trimmed
  • 1 1/2 C whipping cream
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 Tbls. chopped garlic
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 12 oz. goat cheese (such as Montrachet) crumbled
  • 1 Tbls. (I use a little less) fresh chopped thyme
  • 1 tsp. Herbes de Provence
  • 12 oz. chopped ham (I use Black Forest)
  • 20 oz. artichoke hearts drained and halved
  • 1 C (packed) shredded Havarti cheese
  • 1 C grated Parmesan cheese
